JEFF HENDERSON

Creative Director

An award winning illustrator and an accomplished storyteller, Henderson’s career has included a wide- ranging assortment of comic book, videogame, animation, advertising and feature film projects. Jeff’s brand experience includes BBDO, (Pepsi, Dodge), Sony Playstation, Coca Cola, Hasbro/ Hot Wheels, Station Casinos Inc, Mandalay Bay Resorts, LucasArts, Columbia Pictures, Epic Games, Activision, Electronic Arts, MTV Networks, DC Comics and a host of others.

History

Henderson’s career began ‘back east’, where he parlayed his love of comics and movies into a burgeoning art career. By age twenty one, he was published internationally as an artist and writer and had art directed and storyboarded dozens of commercials for BBDO/ New York.

In 1995, shortly after moving to Las Vegas, he won the International Grand Prize in Marvel Comics’ “Create a Hero” contest for up and coming comics creators, and went on to do work for Antarctic Press, DC and Image Comics, as well as the critically acclaimed series “Assassin” for Archangel Studios, creators of “The Red Star”.

In Sin City, Jeff worked on a wide variety of projects. He did commercial storyboards for almost every major casino in Las Vegas. He worked closely with MTV on the commercials for “The Real World/ Las Vegas. He was also heavily involved in the production of the award- winning short film, “The Last Real Cowboys”, with Billy Bob Thronton.

In 2001, he directed and oversaw production of the pioneering animated music video, “Buzzkiller” for the band FLOODNINE on MCA records.

In 2002, Henderson was awarded “Illustrator of the Year” by the Nevada Press Association for a series of post 9/11covers and editorial cartoons featured in Las Vegas City Life Magazine.

Shortly after, he moved to Los Angeles to focus on videogame design and feature film work. Since his arrival, Henderson has contributed conceptual art and storyboards to a number of high profile game and film projects: Unreal Tournament 3 for Epic Games, GUN for Activision, The Red Star for XS Games, The Dark Knight/ (Batman 2), Transformers and Spider-Man 3, as well as a number of short films and music videos.

Last year, Jeff was hand- picked by Director David Slade and Producer Sam Raimi to render all of the shooting boards for the upcoming Sony feature “30 Days of Night”, a film based on the wildly successful graphic novel. Shot in New Zealand, the vampire film is dark and intense, which plays perfectly to Henderson’s high contrast art style. Jeff worked for months on location in Auckland with the art department and production crew. He also had the opportunity to work closely with the acclaimed WETA Workshop in Wellington, the team that created the award winning effects for The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Jeff has also worked with a number of agencies in L.A. on a variety of commercial campaigns: Sony Playstation for TBWA/ Chiat/ Day, Hot Wheels for Young & Rubicam and Coca- Cola for Weiden & Kennedy to name just a few.

Mr. Henderson is also a screenwriter, a voice actor and a successful singer/ songwriter. He has toured all over the country, performing and appearing with a wide variety of acts and has contributed songs and music to a number of film, TV and videogame soundtracks.

Community / Volunteer

Jeff donates his time as a guest lecturer at the prestigious Art Center School of Design in Pasadena. He also contributed a wealth of illustrations for “The Philadelphia Burn Unit Handbook”, a nationally distributed field guide for the treatment of burn trauma victims.
